What Are Keloids?
Keloids are raised, thickened areas of scar tissue that form at the site of a skin injury and grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. Unlike typical scars that form following injury or surgery, keloids can extend well beyond the initially involved area, and can cause pain, itching, and disfigurement. Earlobes are a commonly involved area, as are the chest and shoulders. The rate of keloids coming back after surgical removal alone is quite high, with studies showing rates from 45 – 100%.
Who May Benefit From EBT Treatment
- Individuals who have regrowth of keloids following surgical removal
- Those interested in drastically reducing the chance of keloid recurrence
- People who suffer with pain, itching, or any discomfort due to keloids
