Keloid Treatment
With Electron Beam Therapy

Targeted postsurgical treatment that drastically reduces the chance of keloid recurrence.

Keloids frequently recur after removal by surgery alone. At RadiaCure, our board certified radiation physicians utilize postsurgical electron beam therapy as treatment to drastically reduce the chance of keloid reformation.

Why Electron Beam Therapy Works As Treatment for Keloids

How Are Keloids Treated?

In order to prevent the overactive inflammatory process that produces keloids, we offer curative electron beam therapy immediately following surgical removal.

After scheduling your keloid removal with your dermatologic surgeon, we will coordinate with your care team to schedule your EBT treatment. At RadiaCure, our team provides individualized therapy tailored precisely to only the area at risk. Our specialized machine assures an even dose of therapy that maximizes the chance of an excellent cosmetic result.

What Are Keloids?

Keloids are raised, thickened areas of scar tissue that form at the site of a skin injury and grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. Unlike typical scars that form following injury or surgery, keloids can extend well beyond the initially involved area, and can cause pain, itching, and disfigurement. Earlobes are a commonly involved area, as are the chest and shoulders. The rate of keloids coming back after surgical removal alone is quite high, with studies showing rates from 45 – 100%.
